Marching in front of Lenin's portrait as a child prepared me for strict obedience to the rules of line, shape and object. Born & raised in Bulgaria, I owe my presence in the States to a series of fortunate events. I take nothing for granted.
My studies led me from languages and literature to design, where the practical necessities overrule and nicely contain my proclivities towards poetic and visual excess. I have a gratuitous Master's in Comparative Literature and speak 8 languages — the realm of the foreign is familiar to me. My adult life has been about making bridges, crossing barriers and making foreign things similar, near and ownable. Design is about capturing the imagination, but in a practical way. Abstract concepts and languages need direct and swift expression. A challenge I adore.
